Worked at Politico for almost three years. It's a very difficult place to work for members of any gender and worse if you are a woman. I tell men not to work there and practically beg women to stay away.

I worked here for nearly three years, but I found over time that women would be treated differently. The executive editor would talk down to women and belittle them regularly, including some of the female editors who had been with the company for many years before him. I wouldn't recommend.

Flexibility seems to vary widely from role to role and manager to manager, it really depends upon who you work for, and what your job description is. A great deal of flexibility was given to a colleague with an chronically ill child, who was a great performer and really pushed for it -- so it's there if you really need it.
