At the University of Michigan College of Engineering, I felt that there was a great work-life balance. The benefits and compensation allowed me to take several vacations during my 4 years of working there. I never answered emails on vacation, and rarely answered them from home. I never even set up email on my phone. Many other employees did answer emails from home, but I didn't and no one ever asked me about it. I definitely believe that you set the boundaries in your life.
I've worked here for 3 years and there are a lot of women working here, but predominantly in support roles, other than in property management. Those in the marketing department are viewed as an extension of the administrative staff, rather than a strategic business partner for the sales team.
