Flexible hours, young, bright professionals
I have been with the company just short of a year now. It is by far the best company I have worked for. Management in my center is well balanced between the genders. Within my own department, I feel that it's easier for women to make money. I am preparing to take maternity leave at the end of January. From what I understand, its 6 weeks total paid. Having four young children and a husband with health problems plus my own pregnancy, I take a lot of time off work. They have been, by far, the most lenient company in terms of sick time and vacation time. With any other company, I would have been unemployed by now. As of right now, I plan on being here a very, very long time.
The first 1-2 years you will be doing a lot of manual labor. As you move up in the company you will do less. Sherwin also has many leadership opportunities for those who want to lead. And the company also has a Women's Networking Group, there women network at all levels within the company. The Company is still predominately men (it being construction based) but don't let that hinder you from trying it out, if you are willing to put in the work... The sky is the limit.
There are many women working here, but could use more women in upper management positions. Good maternity leave and benefits, including childcare discounts and back up babysitter options.
Continue to work hard and your accomplishment will make you succeed and successful.
I worked there for almost 7 years. For a long time I was the only women and it was a total boys club. The higher up managers even said women are good for sales because they're hot but not for management because no one would respect them. If I could have done it all over I would have gone to HR (I was afraid to at the time) and left sooner. The only good thing about this role and company is if you want to work 24 hours a day you can make unlimited money. I thought all companies were like this, but after finding a new job I realize they are not! I don't think I would recommend this position to anyone.
