I can't really imagine messing with Serena Williams. The decorated tennis star, mom, model, and overall boss lady doesn't seem like someone who defers to anyone's opinion on how she lives her life. It's truly inspirational.
If you don't believe me: Williams revealed in a recent interview in Time that even tennis coaches can't tell her what to do with her body, her career, or her life.
Apparently, a male coach told Williams to "stop breastfeeding for the sake of her game." Yeah, you read that right. He told her she'd be better at the thing she's already the best at if she stopped a natural process.
Of course, Williams has an amazingly eloquent response (have you HEARD an interview with this woman?)
"It's absolutely hard to take from a guy," she told Time. "He's not a woman, he doesn't understand that connection, that the best time of the day for me was when I tried to feed her. I've spent my whole life making everyone happy... And this is something I wanted to do."
It looks like motherhood gave Serena a new kind of strength to make decisions for herself and her baby, Alexis Olympia.
Here's to strong women showing us all how to put ourselves first and to remember we know our bodies better than anyone else does. Especially a man. Gross.
