Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Madeleine Rousseau, the Manager of Customer Success at Dataminr, as well as the Global Women at Dataminr employee resource group (ERG) lead.

“I've been at Dataminr for about two years, and I've enjoyed every second,” shares Rousseau. “In my current role, I'm a manager on the U.S. DoD team, supporting clients across the National Guard,” For example, “a project I was really excited about was offering support to the National Guard during Hurricane Ian,” she explains.

Her ability to help others is a key reason why Rousseau loves her job so much. “What I find most exciting about my work is being able to save time, money, and lives for the customers that we serve,” she explains. “In my specific role, I help clients keep abreast of a variety of disruptive issues, including natural disasters. It's extremely gratifying to see tangible results in my day-to-day work.” As for her ERG lead role, Rousseau notes that, “one of the greatest and most fulfilling parts of my role as the global lead is talking to women from across the tech space and other industries.”

In the video below, Rousseau tells us more about why she loves working at Dataminr. We also provide lightly edited highlights from the video discussion in the following article.

How would you describe the culture at Dataminr?

I would describe the culture of Dataminr as being extremely inclusive. We have one of the most diverse workplaces I have ever been a part of, and our employee resource groups focus on keeping and maintaining that standard.

As I mentioned, I am on the Women at Dataminr team. We have nine other ERGs, including Amigos at Dataminr, Black at Dataminr, Balance at Dataminr, and Parents at Dataminr just to name a few. These groups focus on keeping and maintaining that standard within the workplace. Personally, I'm a Palestinian American woman working in the tech space, and it's extremely gratifying to see many others from both ethnic and socioeconomic diverse backgrounds.

What is your favorite thing about Dataminr?

My favorite thing about Dataminr is the diversity of thought. As I mentioned, I work on the defense team, and we […] have the ability to work with folks from across [the globe] on a regular basis and share ideas. I have the opportunity, in my current role, to liaison with folks that have prior military backgrounds, marketing backgrounds, and have lived all over the world. That allows me to learn something new every day and interact with different people in my day-to-day activities.

How does Dataminr support you?

The company offers such a great variety of benefits from mental health to physical health. We have great resources on demand, such as therapy, access to fertility doctors, discounts for use of gyms, and several apps to support mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Additionally, we're encouraged to use our unlimited mental health and sick days, and on my team, I know we utilize this benefit regularly. These allow us to stay motivated, stay passionate, and also make sure that we're getting the rest and support that we need to continue the day-to-day work that we do that has the ability to impact so many of the clients that we serve.
