Diversity Sourcer and Recruiter Jaclyn Babb has what she considers a dream job: building talent pipelines and ensuring her company, ON Semiconductor, is implementing diverse recruiting tactics every single day.

But it’s not just her dynamic role or her organization’s dedication to diversity and inclusion that excites Babb about her career at ON Semiconductor. The company has been voted one of the World’s Most Ethical companies by Ethisphere multiple years in a row, listed on the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index and is a place full of supportive, values-driven colleagues that build Babb up.

She’s ready to share the professional insights she’s developed both at ON Semiconductor and throughout her career in recruiting — and that’s exactly what we spoke to her about. Babb sat down and shared the ON Semiconductor intel she loves to share with candidates, what she’s learned from being a diversity recruiter, and her top tip for women looking for rewarding jobs right now.

What is your title and what location do you work at?

I am a sourcer/diversity recruiter located at our corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.

What is a diversity sourcer?

As a diversity sourcer, I assist in strategizing different ways to build talent pipelines, gain referral generation and help with events and sourcing campaigns.

Did you have any other diversity sourcing experience before joining ON Semiconductor?

Previously, I was an executive recruiter. My job as a relentless researcher was to find top talent and to seek out passive candidates.

What do you like best about being a diversity sourcer and recruiter?

I am highly motivated by the desire to help businesses and driven professionals succeed. My goal is to make ideal matches that help candidates advance in their careers, while in turn enhancing our company and organization. I love relationship-building and enjoy cultivating connections with diverse, dynamic individuals and continuously building and expanding my network of contacts.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

When not recruiting, I enjoy what the Scottsdale and Phoenix area has to offer and spending time with my daughters.

What’s one thing ON Semiconductor does — whether a formal policy or program, or more in terms of office culture — that you think is particularly unique or unexpected?

As of this year, ON Semiconductor has been named a World's Most Ethical company by Ethisphere for five years in a row! This year we were also named to the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index for the first time.

We established our core values of respect, integrity and initiative in 2004 and since then, we have created our global corporate and compliance program run under our General Council, Sonny Cave. This program includes compliance and ethics liaisons at all of our major sites. In addition to our corporate compliance and ethics program, we are also active members of the RBA (responsible business alliance), formally known as the EICC (electronics industry citizenship counsel). RBA provides a code of conduct for social, environmental and ethical industry standards.

ON Semiconductor split off from Motorola in 1999 and went public in 2000. Since that time, we have acquired over 17 companies and continue to grow while maintaining the camaraderie and feeling of a small company. In 2015, we established a D&I council which guides our diversity activities in addition to our affinity network groups. We currently have seven of these groups: the Women’s Leadership Initiative (which looks at business and financial acumen, education and training for female leaders), STEM UP (which provides stem education activities and materials for underrepresented individuals within the community), Cultivate (which encourages multigenerational collaboration), the Employee Activity Committee (which organizes employee events and community service), the Black Employee Network (which focuses on the recruitment and retention of Black employees), Continua (our LGBTQ+ group) and most recently, Veteran and Military Employees (which focuses on the recruitment, retention and transitional services for those who have served or are currently serving in the military).

What’s your #1 piece of advice for women who are looking for jobs right now?

Be open to opportunities, be resilient, be yourself, find your focus and project confidence in all you do.

Also, everyone can use some guidance in their careers. Mentorship is a huge difference-maker, especially for people just starting out or people embarking on a new professional path. This level of support has proven especially beneficial for professional women, who do best when they are able to get insight and advice from other professional women. Make sure to take inspiration from successful women who have been willing to share some of their hard-won knowledge and insights.

What’s something you think most people (perhaps even current employees) don’t know about ON Semiconductor that you think they should?

Our company was recently voted the most sustainable company in Arizona! Shorr Packaging developed a list of each state's most sustainable company based off of global and local sustainable rankings, available lists and mentions related to sustainable companies.

Is there anything else you’d like to say about ON Semiconductor?

When you love what you do, it becomes a way of life, not a job. I have a passion for recruiting, and feel honored and proud to be a part of such a great company.
