Finding a new job is daunting. Finding a new job while transitioning to a new industry can be even more daunting. But Christina B., who was recently hired as a senior sales capture lead, says that Fairygodboss made the process a whole lot easier for her.
I had to look at new industries, roles, etc., and FGB was a supportive place to get out of my comfort zone,” she recalls.  “Once I got closer to interviews, I found the tips and ideas helpful as I prepared and built relationships with hiring managers.”
She recently spoke to us about how Fairygodboss and its jobs board for women helped her gain perspective and evaluate her career — specifically by giving her the info she needed to figure out how and where she could best translate her skills in a new role.

FGB: How did you hear about Fairygodboss?
CB:   A friend told me about Fairygodboss so I signed up for the email newsletters and then I was hooked. I probably get 50 newsletters a day and Fairygodboss is one of the most interesting and effective. The tips were always good, with solid and actionable ideas.
FGB:  How did you use Fairygodboss in your job search and ultimate selection of your new role?
CB: The community is a safe place to explore new ideas and opportunities and was very helpful when I started my search. I pivoted out of my industry so it wasn't as simple as searching job listings for similar roles. I had to look at new industries, roles, etc. and FGB was a supportive place to get out of my comfort zone. Once I got closer to interviews, I found the tips and ideas helpful as I prepared and built relationships with hiring managers.
FGB: What was most important to you in a new employer/role?
CB:  The most important thing about my new role is that it's much broader and allows me to take on increased responsibility and challenge myself a bit more. I had reached the peak at my current company and unless I moved to HQ I would never progress in my career. FGB helped me to evaluate my career goals, and growth opportunities, translating my skills into new areas.
FGB: Do you have any advice to other women who are currently looking for a new role? Would you recommend Fairygodboss to them?
CB: I would HIGHLY recommend Fairygodboss. It has such a broad range of support and services, from information on new companies to the tools to help you explore your own career goals.
