Like many companies, many of us at Ampersand are disappointed in the reversal of Roe V. Wade. Our CEO, Nicolle Pangis, shared her thoughts with our team on Friday, below:

I’m sure everyone has seen that Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that guaranteed abortion access across the United States since 1973, was overturned today, leaving the decision on abortion legality to each individual state.

While I understand that people have different views on reproductive rights, this decision is incredibly jarring to many. Historically, and even today, certain groups both in the United States and across the world have not always had a say in what happens to them in their lives or to their bodies. This decision puts that reality into the spotlight that even in 2022, some states will not allow individuals to make reproductive healthcare decisions about their own bodies. For many of us, this feels like we are going backwards in time. As a woman and as a mother of two young girls, I am heartbroken.

This will also have consequences between those who can afford to travel to states that will allow abortions and those who won’t based on socioeconomic means, further creating a chasm in our already all too divided society.

We have already begun to investigate all we can do to bring fair and equitable reproductive healthcare to our employees at Ampersand. We will continue to explore all options and will share any potential changes or enhancements as soon as possible.
