As many a novelty cocktail napkin will tell you, wine, or “mom juice,” is supposedly the saving grace of today’s beleaguered mothers. And “Jersey Shore” star Nicole Elizabeth LaValle, better known as “Snooki,” is no exception to that marketing ploy — erm, rule.
The reality star and mom of three recently posted a photo of herself bottle feeding her newborn with a glass of wine in hand. “What’s mom life like with two kids and a newborn? THIS,” she wrote alongside the hashtags #MomJuice and #ImAGoodMomISwear. The internet, naturally, chose to find fault with the latter point.
"You not suppose to drink alcohol if you breastfeeding your baby," wrote one Instagram user. Another chimed in: “Why do people strive to have children, then complain about the time and effort it takes — she has to have wine to cope?” Still another asked if Snooki had stopped to consider “what would happen if you accidentally spill that wine on your baby’s face, or if you drop him trying to hold him and the wine?”
Taking the (totally unnecessary) criticism in stride, Snooki took to the comments to explain why her naysayers were in the wrong.
“You’re not a mom,” she wrote. “I allow myself to have a few glasses once a week to stay sane with three kids. I do what's necessary to clean my milk for my baby. Let a mawma live.”
She wasn’t alone in defending her choice in beverage, though. Other moms chimed in to cheer on Snooki and her ability to “multitask,” as one commenter put it.
“I came to see all the judgey moms… mama of four buys, and I’m currently drinking out of my son’s ‘PAW Patrol’ cup,” wrote one mom, while another advised: “She needs a straw — twin mom hack.”
Now that's a piece of internet-born parenting advice that's actually helpful.
