At Nutrien, our purpose is to Grow Our World from The Ground Up. As the world’s largest provider of crop inputs, services and solutions, Nutrien plays a critical role in feeding the future by helping growers to increase food production in a sustainable manner. By the year 2050, the world’s population is expected to grow to almost 10 billion people – a huge jump from 7.5 billion people today. That’s why we’re committed to moving the agriculture industry forward – and we’re doing it all by starting from the ground up.

The safety of our people, customers and communities is always our top priority as we work to provide this essential service to the world. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nutrien took all necessary precautions and procedures to protect our people and those we do business with, including closing all corporate offices to employees and allowing thousands of staff around the globe to work from home. We swiftly implemented strict travel restrictions, banning all business-related travel, and implemented stringent physical distancing rules, increased cleaning practices, flexible staffing plans for on-site workers and other precautions outlined in a robust and evolving pandemic plan.

In the spirit of inclusion, Nutrien employees receive frequent communication from Nutrien’s Executive Leadership Team through webcasts covering the latest COVID-19 company updates and responding to employee questions. We also understand that COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted women as they are concentrated in essential service roles during this time while family responsibilities have increased. For that reason, we are encouraging employees to work with their leaders to accommodate conflicting responsibilities and create flexible working hours. Nutrien also continues to offer confidential counseling and information services to assist US and Canada employees and their families with problems affecting personal and professional aspects of life. And while our regular fitness classes have been put on hold during the pandemic, Nutrien’s wellness instructors put together an array of virtual yoga, barre, bootcamp and meditation classes for employees to enjoy from the comfort of home.

Nutrien is taking care of our employees’ communities, too. We allocated an additional $1 million USD to support local food programs, offered employees an additional four paid volunteer days for a total of five days, encouraged employees to give personal donations through our existing ($5,000/employee) matching gift program, helped bridge the education gap caused by recent school closures by offering a collection of free virtual agriculture-education resources to parents, teachers and students of all ages. We continue to watch for opportunities to provide in-kind donations of Personal Protective Equipment — whether N95 masks, Tyvek suits, or hand-sanitizer that we’ve begun to manufacture in some of our facilities. We’ve also made other in-kind donations, including computers and IT help desk support to our community partners.

Watch to see how Nutrien employees are working together to keep each other safe and help feed the world.
