I've worked at Allstate for over 5 years. There are quite a few women working here but most are in lower management positions. While they are generous with vacation, working over 10 hours days are common. You may also be working during your vacation by staying on top or emails and calling in for important meetings. Promotions and advancement do not correlate to performance but who you know and who is willing to be an advocate for you. Management specifically in the IT PMO has turned into a "Mean Girls" club and they are weeding out some great resources just based on not liking them.

However, the work culture has changed dramatically in the past 2-3 years and where a 40-45 work week was fairly normal and the work load was reasonable, now it is a 50+ work week and the expectations are often unattainable - unless you want to put in around 60 hours a week ... Work/life balance for exempt employees is non existent unless you don't meet expectations
