October 2018

Ameriprise has been a great company to work for overall, but there are definitely changes that need to be made. Career paths for roles need to be created, so employees can see upward mobility. There needs to be more emphasis on growth and development on lower band levels, as well as, promoting from within.

CEO and COO are both women. They are understanding of women's needs and are flexible. It is majority of women that work in the company, but there is no difference between women and men.

Do not invest too much of your peak career years here. Learn what you can, the pay is good but find an organization where you are truly valued and diversity is more than just required corporate speak.

Policies of equal opportunity are one thing but in practice, women who take advantage of those policies can be viewed as less career focused. Likewise, older women employees with less family/kids focus are not given the same deference as young Moms.

September 2015

Half the company is now women. Women have a voice and management is very understanding when it comes to family and personal matters that have to be taken care of. The policy on time off is very loose. Basically get your work done by the deadlines. And if you want to take vacation or time off, preplan and make up the hours beforehand and you could easily take 2 weeks off without issue.
