I think men and women are treated equally and there are many women in high level positions here. The culture can be very aggressive, in my opinion. Your experience will be very much influenced by your boss and how sane that person is. Reorgs are very common here, and people seems to leave the company after a fairly short time -- there is a lot of staffing churn.

I've worked for Shell since 1999 and have seen them dramatically shift from a company with a "good ole boy" or "men's club" mentality to one exhibiting strong core belief in equality, inclusion and diversity. There are still pockets of male dominated roles in upper/senior management, but even that is continue to change. Shell’s take the attraction and retention of women seriously, as well as helping them reach senior management roles. They recently designed the “Women Career Development Program” which is an internal training program that aims to help women take lead in planning a successful career path.
