    Though I did not, I was surprised to learn from a colleague that she was forced to take a 10% cut in pay when she had her baby, even though she was taking calls from students while in the hospital and was even grading papers just hours after the birth. The director of human resources told her that the paycut was required due to the fact that they believed she could not possibly work at 100%.

Fantastic place to work with large percentage of female leadership. However, parental policies could use improvement - no paid maternity leave, limited to 12 weeks unpaid FMLA, and many teams do not allow flex hours or working from home.

This is a great place to work, with amazing benefits (not just insurance, but phone discounts, flexible hours, travel, etc.), but there is no official maternity policy. We are able to qualify for FMLA, because we have a large department, but that means that one either takes unpaid leave, or saves up as much vacation and sick time prior to taking off to get 'paid' leave while off. This works as long as you don't need any sick days leading up to giving birth, which is unlikely. Management and the majority of the department are all female, and everyone is supportive.
