Work for someone you trust. Don't be shy about calling out systemic problems in the appropriate way- the company wants to improve but the weight of the organization is significant, and it will take real ownership from all employees for desired culture and process changes to permeate and take root!

Flexibility is very manager-, role-, and department-dependent. Some people work remotely, on their own hours; others are monitored more closely.

June 2018

Sequoia officially allows you to set flexible hours, although face-time is very important at their SM headquarters. Considering they provide benefits to tech companies, it's unreal that there's no paid parental leave beyond state-mandated benefits. There's no dedicated HR function, instead Talent Development does double duty as internal HR and recruiting.

They don’t like you taking time off, even when your sick. You get written up for it, A lot of times you don’t get a brake at work because of understaffing, too much work.

January 2017

It is a extremely tough culture and its hard to get past a point in your career there unless you are cutthroat. There are some women in high positions and they are diverse but the big jobs and promotions for women are far behind those for men. Sometimes the women are part of the problem because its so competitive for what little voice they have.
