    Physician autonomy has been replaced by administrators and the only thing that matters is the bottom line i.e. How much work can we squeeze out of each physician. No thought for physician happiness and lots of implicit gender bias.

Family friendly environment, especially for new parents. 8 weeks paid parental leave and flexible work schedule upon return. The 8 weeks is ok, but the flexible schedule upon return is amazing.

Shortly after I was hired I was warned by a former employee that my department is VERY unfriendly to working mothers. As time has gone on, I've seen what this employee was talking about. There are very few women in leadership positions. The "family friendly" policies seem to primarily apply to working dads with lesser demands. I've often heard leadership complain about the company's lack of diversity but have seen no effort to make the workplace more female-friendly.

The women are paid less and have no leadership roles. At the top, it is an obvious "boys club". A few years ago when a position opened up for a VP, the two candidates were women. They felt bad promoting one over the other so made both of them directors and eliminated the VP position. Complete bull. They "felt bad?" Come. On.

After 5 years working -its obvious- There is no transparency on maternity leave. Most men and women have no idea what their leave policy is because its not discussed openly. Most people often don't get their full benefits. There is not paid leave for maternity per say- all leave is health related of self or family is under FLMA here for max of 12 weeks per revolving flma year. So you have to save time for years if you want paid leave for maternity basically because without saved time you are unpaid for leave. That means vacations, sick leave use etc come from the same time you have banked.

Be prepared to hang out in a frat house and be that girl that the geeky guys hang out with. Then realize that the super uber Model types may not have to work as hard as you do. Culture is amazing and at least everyone is really super smart and friendly. Felt like undergrad.
