More so than any other employer, this company values flexibility and work/life balance - things like family, your health, etc. are prioritized above work. They strive to be the best, but not at the expense of your outside life.

It's a great place for working moms - flexibility with being able to leave for appointments/activities and the ability to work from home

Generally speaking, there is a lot of flexibility. I have three children and am able to do whatever is needed to get them to appointments, work from home if they're sick, or step out to catch a school activity. There is an understanding and acceptance with my peers that we all do what we need to do to take care of our families and get the job done, and we support one another in those efforts.

Overall the company has a great approach to work/life balance, but your team lead and/or direct manager can also have a direct impact on this, and that sometimes doesn't align with the overall company values. There are inconsistencies across the company in how this is handled.

Capital One has empowered me to have a fulfilling career and be a present parent. I experienced generous maternity leave with both of my children, a very comfortable mother's room for pumping when I got back, and plenty of flex time for sick kids or school plays. I also feel like my contributions are valued here and being a mom has never hindered my career growth. In fact, a few years ago I was promoted the day I returned from maternity leave! I just don't think it gets better than this as a working mom!

The organization recognizes the need to have more woman represented at on the Executive Committee, Board, and high leadership roles. We are trying to make moves to get there, albeit takes time.
