Overall, Capital One is a great place to work. While we do lack female representation at the very top of the organization, it's something that our leaders are aware and open about. Our culture is not hierarchical - the best idea is the one that is chosen, regardless of who proposed it. Our policies are generous and well aligned (if not exceeding) the market. I would definitely recommend Capital One as a place to work to my family and friends.

Capital One is very flexible around hours and working from home. There are many associates who work modified schedules consistently, and there are many others who work modified schedules ad hoc as needed.

This company will be respectful of all women and families. There is very little concern about promotion possibilities unless you get to the point of needing to go part-time or show greater need for an established work-life balance.

There is little flexibility on part-time work - this prevents mothers and fathers who cannot work full-time to support their children.

Allow more women to go part-time or to be more flexible with part-time mothers - allowing greater flexibility to support the family.

Working here isn't just a job. You're presented with challenging work that's fulfilling, great people managers, and coworkers that are smart, thoughtful, and that I look forward to seeing everyday. Not only that, as a woman, you are fully supported with our benefits and work/life balance to have a family AND a career. It's truly something that we practice what we preach.

Capital One is the pinnacle of work/life flexibility, but also within a growth environment. I've never felt more supported to do what I need outside of work to be the best I can be inside of work.

I have worked with and for several powerful leaders at Capital One who are women. It's a great feeling to see them supported and promoted the same as the men working here.

The company has started using to data to help support women's growth, identify gaps and why they exist, and help women move into leadership roles.

I haven't taken maternity leave but will be this summer. Looking forward to spending 18 weeks (of paid leave) with my new baby. At my previous employer, I had 5 weeks of leave at 60% of my salary (it was awful).

18 weeks maternity leave gave me the great opportunity to bond with my baby and find my new balance so that when I returned back to work, I felt ready.

I have the flexibility to accommodate daycare pickup/drop off schedules, pediatrician visits, and the occasional sick child day without any fuss -- in return, my team expects me to be a professional and meet my deadlines. We have great respect for one another's needs in and out of the balance.

I've become a foster mom this year which has taken me out of the office more than I expected. I've been able to work flexibly and manage to get my work done in my own time without the guilt of not always being in the office during core business hours. Plus I got parental leave to help with the transition. It's been nice to not have to worry about work when you are taking on such a challenging role in your personal life.
