Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate before accepting the job offer. Once you are in it is very diffucult to get decent raises and difficult to get a promotion.

Staff get 6 weejs and faculty get 12 weeks per child. It could be natural birth, adoption or foster.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Yes, because of solid benefits, a pension plan/matching 403B. Also, we have maternity/paternity leave with full pay. You get a decent amount of sick and vacation time and lots of days off. No, because of lack of availability to climb the ladder and low pay.

MOM's corporate is a lot different than at the store. I worked my way up, and there's a number of women in significant leadership positions, 2 out of 6 on the leadership team including CEO, an almost equal amount of female department heads. Store level is a lot more about sticking it out, then who's currently in place. I've seen a lot of changes in over 5 years working at this company.

The longer you've worked there, the more flexible they are. If you are new, don't expect to have immediate flexibility, beyond your initial hours of availability.

You have to be emotionally tough and not get offended easily. It's kind a "frat-house" environment. Lots of young guys.

Maybe. We are a tight-knit group which makes the atmosphere a lot of fun. I just don't think decisions on promotions and pay are always fair (or well thought out)

Overall it's a good place to work. Some depends on which division you are in. And as with anywhere, a lot depends on your boss. You may have to fight and deal with sexism but you won't get punished for it. But nothing will be done about it either. But everyone knows who the sexists are so it can get called out.

Maybe. The company wants to do a better job of embracing women and what they can bring to the table, but almost all company decisions are made by a small group of leaders that are all male.
