Schwab makes a clear and conscious effort to support women in our workplace. From day 1, I've felt equal to all employees (both male and female) who work here because gender & hierarchy boundaries don't exist!

I say that promotions are few and far between for both men and women. Salary increases are rare as well. Negotiate a strong starting salary because other than minimal annual raises that don't cover cost of living, you won't get pay increases.

My team is extremely flexible and accommodating about working remotely. However, other areas of the company do not allow that flexibility.

The change in HR leadership has created the opportunity for a paid leave policy in 2017; I took advantage of it and also paired it with the paid sabbatical (4 weeks) program after 5 years of service. Four months off 'paid' was a game changer for my pregnancy.

Telecommuting is available on a case-by-case basis.

  • Took Maternity Leave Here? (Weeks)

    6 paid / 6 unpaid

First payment is your 6 week disability pay (you should elect 66% in advance of a pregnancy to be eligible for this benefit), 1/3 of this day comes from your sick, vacation pay. Then at 6 weeks (or 8 for c-section) through 12, that is fully paid at normal salary. So its paid, but you pay yourself first.

It's been great; I've been encouraged along the way. Definitely lots more room for women in client facing and/or middle management roles.

They have been very supportive of my growth and the culture here is great. I have never felt less than equal to my male peers and they support a great diversity/inclusion network.

The policy has improved since I left. They should make it more clear that you must enroll in disability to be eligible for pay.

While there is always room for improvement, Schwab is better than most for woman in leadership as well as benefits.

It has changed since I took maternity. It was not specific maternity leave when I did... it was short term disability pay. It is now 6 weeks paid maternity
