The pay is not equal-many women have left the company for that one reason. My direct manager was fantastic...upper management and some of the culture in other departments is too "boys club'ish".

Very flexible for many years, allowing employees to work remote but they have done away with that option now. So not flexible anymore.

The company has a great family vibe and warm low stress environment. Company likes to promote from within. The workload is manageable.

The company did not have paid maternity leave until recent regulations required it. Paid time off is pretty low.

To stand up for yourself, they shouldn't be motivating by threatening, when they do not even provide adequate training.

There is a lot of theoretical flexibility and lip service to inclusion at this employer, but in reality - it's very hard to have a family and excel here if you're not one of the founders.

January 2016

Generally women are treated fairly, but there could be better diversity at the management level to allow more female mentorship. Leadership development should be cutting edge for high levels of management, but they do a good job of training and offering career growth. At our local offices, I do see women either volunteering or expectations that they will help with office management & social events -- would like to see more equalization of expectation there.

November 2015

Maternity leave at Booz Allen is essentially non-existent. You get 2 weeks off paid by the firm only. After that you have to rely on your own accumulated leave or short term disability for the next several weeks. Men and women get the exact same amount of time off (called parental leave) which feels unbalanced. The firm is a good place to work, allows for working from home which is a huge bonus as a working mom - but the firm knows that the WFH is a bonus, allowing them to keep salaries lower than they should be for skills provided. Speaking of bonuses, there are none for anyone under senior associate. And there is a bottle neck at the lead associate to senior associate juncture. The cause of this that there is a disproportionate number of lead associates slots (thousands) to the senior associate slots (a hundred or so) making it unrealistically competitive to get promoted and those promoted are mostly men, as it is a male-dominated business (ratio is likely 1 female promo to 5 male promos, at best). This of course leads to significant attrition. There is tuition reimbursement of 5k per year, but you have to stay with the firm a year or pay it back. This part is not women-centric, but important to know.

September 2015

It is an extremely diverse culture here. I don't know the exact numbers, but there is a large percentage of women in leadership positions. They get paid the same as the men. There really is no glass ceiling here. You get paid and promoted based purely on your work skills and ethics.

February 2015

Challenging, interesting work- but I would never recommend this workplace for a young woman who is trying to grow her career. The leadership team is made up entirely of men, there are no policies in place for having children, and there are no opportunities for mentorship or development. With plenty of great tech companies in Boston, I'd definitely avoid this one.
