"There are a lot of women that work across various departments at Gallo. I do think it can be tougher for women in some departments, but I do think the company is aware of these areas of opportunity. "

"This company has a long way to go. There are so many companies out there that dont even blink at the difference between a man and woman if theyre both intelligent and professional. "

One thing E. & J. Gallo Winery can improve?
"Was the first job I have had that made me realize how bad it can be to be a woman in the workforce. As a project engineer in the plant, I was not at all taken seriously, respected, or ever even really spoken to in a professional manner. I am at a job now where I am doing incredibly well and have the respect of my coworkers, bosses, and subs. "

"I was new and did not stay long since I was given no tasks to complete or work on for over a month. Making money to do nothing may be great for others, but its not the way I prefer to work."

"I think the challenge is that it is a business, so our core hours (8am-5pm) are still expected to be covered, and sometimes I wish I could flex my schedule depending on the day to come in (& stay) later or earlier without having to explain it to anyone. Meaning, I’d like to just do the work and do it well but have a little more flexibility. "

"The culture was beginning to change when I left and was more prevelent on the Premium side of the business than on the central valley (of CA) side. Mostly, men on the winemaking/operations side were being promoted or men were being hired from outside, while women remained stagnant in their roles. Something happened and in the past year there have been a TON of promotions to level the field so hats off to Gallo for redirecting the ship a little."
