In the office environment, there are a lot of flexible opportunities. People understand if your kids get sick and you have to work from home.

The biggest problem at Eaton is inconsistent culture. Policies are not ingrained or well distributed, so flexibility is largely up to your individual manager and what location you work at. The company as a whole is fairly flexible and has extremely inclusive policies, which has only increased in the past few years. The company is so large that you might need to fight to use these policies if you are the first in your location.

Work/life balance is promoted here as an option, but so far, every woman I know that has requested it, has been denied.

They created a pumping room when I was pregnant and would be needing a space other than the bathroom to pump. I work in a mostly male facility, so it had never been requested before.

Eaton is a decent company under Sandy Cutler. Being predominately male and white in the upper ranks makes it challenging. Women who aspire to rise in the ranks are expected to sacrifice home life and put work first. The men don't understand balance. The environment is not hostile but you'll observe typical male behavior, which is misunderstanding.
