This is a reviw for GE Capital Corporation. This is a very competitive company to work for. If you are not a type A personallity it may not be the right environment fo you. With that said I will say that all of the woman in senior leaders do particpate in a lot of mentoring as well as helping other woman move up the coroporate ladder.

My current manager is all about work life balance. It is so refreshing. Having the flexibility to be able to balance this has been remarkable. It actually makes you work even harder as you don't want the perception to be that you are taking advantage of that flexibility.

Unfortunately GE Capital is in the process of being sold off so there are very limited opportunities to stay within the company. If this was not the current situation I would say that compensation would have been my choice.

GE offers great flexibility and parental leave plans. But, if you don't want to work all the time, then you need to set strong boundaries on your workload.

Ask for higher salary for your first job at GE. Once that number is set they will only give you 2-5% increase regarless of position or any improvements you have done. In my last role I received my Black Belt and my PMP (Project Management Professional) certificates and it did not mean anything.

It depends on your manager. My last manager tied me to my desk eventhough I have been in the workforce since 1994. My current manager does not care where, how and when I do my job as long as it is done.

They are shifting to hub structures in the IT space and not being flexible to remote employees.

Maybe. I would recommend GE to YOUNG women. I don't feel they are currently looking out for their mid-career women.
