People you work with are incredibly smart, hardworking and supportive. Longer hours than average but accomplish a lot and you go places. It is also about who you know. Definitely politics here but again, if you do great work, you get noticed and more opportunities than others. Open to flexible work arrangements and other accommodations to make work and life work for you.

I've been here almost a decade. Been promoted several times. Generally, feels like people are promoted based on talent and not gender. There is a strong Women's Network that supports the development of women in the company. Think there is more they can do to ensure that women are paid comparable to men in similar roles and that women are being promoted proportionally.

GE demands a lot from it's employees, but rewards are common. I was challenged in my duties and responsibilities. If you are a slacker, this is not the company for you.

In general, the office I work in is very family friendly. We are located in a suburb which makes it much easier to balance daycare/school responsibilities (as oppose to a train commute to NYC). Everyone with kids takes all the school vacations off. it is also very easy to work from home with increases the flexibility. You can manage a 8-5 work day here, however you would be expected to check your email and finish any work from home.

Maybe. benefits are decent ... work/life balance really depends on which division and who you work for.
