At the group level, culture and leadership are great. As you get farther up the corporate structure, it turns into a stodgy, good ol' boys club. There are women in the pipeline with the potential to break into senior leadership, but it hasn't happened yet. Of the women in leadership positions, almost none of them are technical and this is an engineering firm.

The flexibility is great as long as you're getting your work done. I've never had any issues taking time when needed. However, parental leave policies are the bare minimum to meet federal standards.

  • Took Maternity Leave Here? (Weeks)

Getting maternity leave approved is a hassle. No paperwork can be started until 30 days before your due date, so you have to hope you don't deliver early. There is significant turnover in HR, so every woman I know feels like they are the first person to ever request this and it is not uncommon to get conflicting information from different people in HR.

The company claims to support diversity in regards to gender, race, religion, etc and I believe they are making strides to reflect that.

Most of the office leadership is comprised of men and they often delegate menial tasks to the women (errands, etc). They also promote their male buddies regularly.

February 2016

Good people overall very European way of life. A lot of time off, great medical care absolutely all paid by the employer (employee contribution is $0!) Also 100% 401K vesting from day 1! Unheard in the industry. Great opportunity to make an impact. Small organization so great mobility. I am 29 and single and I have no idea what maternity leave policies are in place, however, I am know of couple of women that have been on sick leave for like 4 months. Flexible work arrangements, at least 2 women I know work from home 2 or 3 times a week and come to the office rarely..oh and a guy. You can work in Westchester or the NY Park Avenue office. Again, for single women its different but if you have family its great, which I don't yet ;)
