It is hard for most women to advance to leadership positions as the culture rewards people who dedicate their lives to the job - staying long hours, changing personal plans for travel and willingness to move where the company needs you to. Maternity leave though was recently extended to 16 weeks which shows that the company is at least trying to move in the right direction.

Don't ever need to pick up your kids - they'll tell you to hire a nanny to raise your kids. Don't ever go out on maternity leave - they won't backfill and you'll come back to hell and poorly done work. Don't ever have illness in your family - you'll be told you gave too much going on in your life to be able to focus on doing good work.

Leadership is almost 100% men - only one woman in the c-suite. Most women in VP, director, or team leaf roles eventually leave due to culture, unequal pay/compensation, and lack of opportunity. Flex work schedules are still frowned upon in HQ, and no fertility coverage. Decent maternity leave.

We implemented a flexible schedule option, but majority of leaders frown upon it. They want faces in the office and bottoms in their seats especially on Monday and Friday. WFH on Monday and Friday is against policy. Despite policy changes, the culture has not followed suit.

Fair pay, especially with new hires, although the gap can widen as you have children, make family based decisions. Increasingly adding options like childcare, paternity leave, etc. but needs to recognize the generational needs of all associates (not just the youngest).

There is still a perception of expectations that can overshadow your ability to gain the flexibility you might want, particularly with older, male dominated leadership.

Coca-Cola is making gender equality a priority for their company goals for the next 10 years. Although I admire their strong efforts to close the gap, the company is still predominantly male based in this stage.
