The company is very lean so unless you’re not chosen, there’s no opportunity for growth. Flexibility depends on your dept.

Capital One genuinely values a diversity of opinions and insights and experiences. Whether you are a woman, a man, a person of color, someone with a traditional background, someone with a unique education-- everyone brings value to the table. Because of that, you are expected to bring your whole self to work-- all parts of you. New mothers can join conference calls while pumping in our Mother's Rooms, women aren't dismissed or man-splained to in meetings, and our pay and benefits are competitive. Most importantly, though, is that our overall culture is just one of acceptance of you-- because of your experience, not in spite of it.

Work/life flexibility is amazing. Capital One wants you to do the best work of your life while employed here, but they also know that work isnt the most important thing in most of our lives. There is flexibility to volunteer, be present at your kids' events, work from home, and still do incredibly meaningful work. Flexibility is possibly Capital One's best asset.

November 2015

Banking in general is still a good old boys club. However, First Tennessee has come a long way in recognizing and promoting women leaders and their Board and C suite is starting to change. Diversity is a big theme and more and more women are being promoted into executive roles. I have had great women and men mentors over the past 8 years at this organization. I took a 4 month maternity leave and came back to a retention bonus and nice salary increase. Also upon my return, a lactation room was created with nice comfy furniture.
