Don't do it. Unfortunately, within WV there are few job opportunities and WVU Medicine is a powerhouse. Employees here endure endless suffering to keep a job so they can care for their own families; however, it comes at a great cost: ruins your own health and denies you time off to actually enjoy life.

This company's intent is solely about protecting the status quo and incompetent management; therefore, if you have a good education, great ideas, and progressive attitude, look elsewhere. There are horror stories about the treatment of employees, which seems counterproductive for an organization in the business of healing others.

They honor FMLA and California's Parental Leave. However, their employer-based parental leave was only 1 (paid) week during my first pregnancy in 2015. Today (starting 2017), the employer-based parental leave is 6 weeks (paid). This is not in line with what is being offered at comparable Silicon Valley majors' (FANG) offices

March 2018

Due to focus on client demands, there is little work life balance. Unpredictable scheduling and quick turnaround cause one to work extremely long hours and can hamper relationship and family life. There is little support given to flexible work arrangements. There are few women in senior leadership roles. However, there were initiatives to change this within the company at the time I worked there.

November 2015

I've worked at this company for approximately 4 years. Several women have taken maternity leave and returned during my time here. The office is great for maternity leave, but not so supporting upon returning. There has been progress in supporting new mothers, but the mentality is hard to change. I think some associates have a difficult time with balancing their new home life demands and the demands of a stressful and uncompromising job.
