June 2018

Depending on the business/department you support, Ascend Learning can be family-friendly and flexible. However, the leadership team is SUCH a good old boys network. Paternalistic. Condescending. Like a bunch of rich, white, ex-frat boys who now run a company.

Overall a great company to work for. Especially if you are good at kissing ass and/or find a good female mentor here.

Double standard when it comes to staff v. employees. Flex schedule "offered" to staff, but approval requires too many hoops and is ultimately discouraged.

I had to save up my PTO for maternity leave; there was no 'separate' leave time.

Very area is different. The company strives to increase and be diverse however, the individual contributors aren’t provided enough resources to achieve this diversity

April 2017

My job could be done from home 90% of the time, however, administration is very inflexible to considering remote work or flexible schedules.

January 2016

Predominantly male company. Supportive of breastfeeding upon return to work. Growing company, so policies are developing with it. Ownership is slow to change and modernize policies, so women-friendly policies are probably a long way off. No specific maternity leave policy. Falls under STD policy: salaried employees receive 6 weeks pay for birth of child (8 weeks for C-section) at 100%, hourly employees receive same allotments at 60% pay.

July 2015

this is my own company but under the massmutual umbrella. MassMutual and other agents in the financial services are not very helpful, especially when it comes to women. it is a LOT more challenging to find the right mentors and guidance, is very much still a 'old boys club' mentality
