Health insurance is excellent, parental leave is minimal (FMLA or MA). Flex time is generally accepted, but is subjective, depending on your supervisor.

Flex time is dependent on each persons supervisor. Since there is no standard policy that treats all employees equitably, I don't rate it as being very flexible.

  • Took Maternity Leave Here? (Weeks)

    6 paid / 6 unpaid

Paid weeks were covered under short term disability at 66% of my salary. The remaining weeks were covered by sick and vacation time. I was eligible for 12 weeks leave under FMLA.

It’s a very old school company that promote based on tenure instead of merit. At my time there only one woman was above middle management. Things are extremely slow moving and change doesn’t come easily at this company no matter how well you do your job.

May 2017

It's a great place to work, but things are changing. There's a pull towards the "new and cool" and a pull towards "old and known" which leads to things like dynamic desks and work environments WITH very limited flexibility in terms of hours, no remote working, and a mandate on being in the office.

That you will never be an used record buyer, Those jobs are for boys only it seems. And that they will not pay you for maternity leave. they told me it was part affordability and partly because a couple of men who had children did not get the same treatment.

November 2015

I worked at Second Cup for a month when I was laid off at one and job searching for another. My boss made a point of only hiring women who were young and thin. On my last day he called a candidate "fat" to me. He would taunt employees in front of customers when an employee would make a mistake. Over all it was a poor experience and I am very glad I found another position elsewhere.

It is not such a great place to work if you have a family in need of health insurance. Working at a franchise with a small staff the conditions are not good for a woman who needs to pump for a breastfeeding baby at home. I have not worked here while pregnant.
