Generally a great place to work. Still a male-dominated culture. Definitely need better maternity benefits.

There was no maternity leave per se (I had to use a combo of sick, vacation, and disability to try to keep my paycheck whole, and I was only gone 6 wks). Don't know if this has changed more recently.

It is a good place to have a career at. It has taken me from single life, to parent with small kids, to empty nester and has provided me the flexibility to have good work life balance.

Customer Service

I am currently very happy with my immediate leadership / executive team and am working on a key initiative that could really improve customers' experience with the company. The culture does tend to be a bit of the old school approach and very hierarchical....some groups more so than others.

Invest in the initiatives teams are being asked to drive. Budget reductions have impacted our ability to be successful with some key initiatives.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Depends on the job / location they might be interested in applying.

Leadership is mostly white males. Some departments or organizations allow flexible work schedule and some do not. It's not equitable across the company.

Seagate is what you make of it. There are challenges, but the people you work directly with make all the difference.

stand up for yourself! don't let time pass before you mention, to the person who caused the problem, that you don't care for that kind of interaction (the kind that leaves someone feeling less-than).

Since this is a tech company they are trying really hard to bring more women into the company. I'm still nursing (babe is <1) and the lactation room has a pretty tight schedule so I end up pumping in a conference room but that works great for me. There is a Women's Leadership Network and even though the company is majority male, it is still inviting.

Flexibility definitely depends on your manager and your position. My role is very entry-level and so strict with my hours and limited options for working from home although the majority of my department has very flexible schedules and options to work remotely.

Madam Marketing

Senior Manager

Marketing

January 1970

There are very few women in senior positions. The company is careful to be legally and politically correct, but the numbers tell the story--nearly all senior positions and those just below them are held by men.
