They have improved benefits recently for maternity leave and it is better compared to the norm in the USA, but more work to be done.

There are many women at lower levels, and I appreciate the initiatives taken to age more women. However, the higher level technical positions have few women, so it is difficult to find mentorship in that desired path. Many technical women pursue nontechnical promotion instead.

It depends on the manager and the organization if you are going to get the flexibility. I would also say don't leave money on the table when you are hired and don't accept a position just to get in the door because it is very hard to get promoted.

The flexibility that has been known at Cisco is decreasing at least in Finance. We were ask to come to the office 3 days a week, now that has increased to 4 and we are all ask to be in on the same days making it difficult to have schedules with the kids especially for single mothers.

On the surface, they appear to be very female friendly. It's not until you are with them for awhile that you realize all the 'girl power' talk is just that; talk.

Improve the morale by not laying people off constantly but never backfilling those positions and expecting others to take on way more work.
