Flexibility seems to vary widely from role to role and manager to manager, it really depends upon who you work for, and what your job description is. A great deal of flexibility was given to a colleague with an chronically ill child, who was a great performer and really pushed for it -- so it's there if you really need it.

I have worked there for over 6 years. Men with less success and seniority are routinely promoted over women of higher success and seniority and retain most of the management roles. In our group, the men are commonly applauded for the efforts where women under similar circumstances are not.
