Management supports work-life balance. However, i don't think we hear enough from our female executives on how being a new mother impacts their work-life balance and how to cater to this life event in their development plan.

Thomson Reuters places a lot of trust in its employees. I feel that my manager respects my intelligence and my input. I am never disregarded, talked over, or controlled. I have a lot of agency. I have a lot of freedom. I feel strongly committed to my team. I believe that I make a difference. As a result, I want to help the company be even more successful than it already is. I have never felt personally invested in the success of my employer before, but the way that TR treats me (and I happen to be a woman), gives me this sense of dedication, which is very fulfilling. I also appreciate that the senior women in the company do NOT have that demoralizing 'chip-on-my-shoulder' embittered quality that I have encountered from so many higher-level women during my career as a young professional. (They had it hard it must be hard for me.) Instead I feel inspired and mentored. A+ all the way.

    I would rate TR a 4, but there are many times when work life balance is claimed but then you are treated differently for having needed time off for family. I see this as an issue whether you're male or female.

I think as women at TR, we are extremely lucky to have the flexibility we all enjoy, from maternity leave to flexible working hours, you are treated as an individual first and employee second which is not like many of the companies friends work at.
