Excellent opportunity, except benefits which are sadly missing. Otherwise a nearly perfect company to work for!

Supervisor hires mainly her friends and makes other employees pick up the slack when they don't do the job. As long as a position is filled, it doesn't matter if that person works or not. the rest will 'do the job'

H+K has the best paid parental leave in the industry - covering birth moms, dads, partners, adoptive parents - and a whole suite of policies to help employees blend work and life (lots of PTO, jump-start on holidays, monthly fitness reimbursement, etc.).

June 2016

I think SCANA is a good company to work for. I think they are being proactive in hiring more women and minorities which the industry currently lacks. I do think with hiring more women, they need to step up and provide needs to young mothers, who are possibly the bread winners of their household as well, and 6 weeks STD and FMLA is not enough.

The extent to which Rice is "family friendly" depends on your job and department. I've seen a lot of variation.

Rice provides 6 or 8 weeks of short term disability (at 80% pay; 6 weeks for vaginal deliveries and 8 weeks for cesareans). Thereafter, it's unpaid , but you can use your PTO to pay for these weeks at 100% of your salary.

November 2015

I worked at this company for five years. While the staff is approximately 50/50 women/men, I was shocked by how little HR seemed to understand about the maternity leave process. It was very frustrating, and stressful to have to deal with errors the first several weeks home with my new baby.
