Does anyone have their PMP?
I am currently enrolled to complete my education hours and am wondering if it's worth applying to project manager jobs now even if I don't have my PMP yet? I would like to highlight this on my resume too if that is possible? I just want to get my foot into the door in the project manager world for a possible job (been looking for 9 months now). Any advice?
Hi Antonia,
I am finishing up 3 classes for Project Management. I have yet to fill out the PMI application for the test. For either certification you need training hours this the requirement:
Secondary diploma (high school diploma/ global equivalent) and 23 contact hours of formal education. All this information is found here:
https://www.pmi.org/certifications/certified-associate-capm
the fee to take the exam is $300.00.
I hope this helps.
Regards.
I did the JobHackers FREE Agile MBA and passed the PSM certification. It's a great group that supports all it's members. It's been the best thing I did to get back to work. You can check out thejobhackers.org for more info.
Hi all! I'm interested in pursuing my CAPM. Where do I start? The PMI institute is a tad overwhelming to view and it's unclear as to what steps I need to take to start this process. Any guidance? I'd be open to connecing via phone if easier. Thank you!
Hi Michaela,
I am transitioning from my role as an event director to project manager since my industry (leisure & hospitality) was adversely affected by the pandemic. Many of the job opportunities I have been interested in pursuing are asking for PMP certifications. If you are able to get in the door without the certification and it's acceptable to the organization, I say "go for it"!
As someone with the skills but not familiar with the PMP jargon, I felt it was important that I take this opportunity to study for the PMP exam. On my resume, I do have the coursework listed with "Continuing Education (in progress)" - you are one step ahead of me.
Give yourself the chance to apply for the jobs that interest you and see how the process evolves while you continue with your coursework. Good luck!
I have my PMP! I received it in 2020.
Congratulations! Did you apply to project manager roles prior to getting your certification?
Great question, I received my certification after my experience working as a PM. So yes, I had experience prior to the certification. Are you interested in project management?
Yes I am! I am currently enrolled to finish my PMP certification now. Any tips?

I am also working on my PMP. I just have it listed under education since I am doing it through a university program, and have it listed as currently enrolled, and what I am enrolled for (PMP).
I agree that this is the best way to do this. I'm taking a social media course through Coursera and FaceBook and I've listed my section certificates as I go along under Education. Good luck!
