    As a Systems Control Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

    • Know and apply the operating principles, purpose, proper application and design limitations of primary sensing elements, control circuitry, and final control devices used in closed loop and open loop industrial process control systems.  This includes electronic, digital, analog, pneumatic, and mechanical methods of signal generating, conditioning, transmitting, and recording.

    • Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blueprints, sketches, equipment manuals, process flow diagrams, and vendor diagrams.

    • Set up, operate and read precision testing and measuring instruments to the instrument manufacturer’s specifications of accuracy.  Precision testing and measuring instruments include devices such as ampmeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, dead weight testers, potentiometers, thermometers, velometers, scales, tachometers, strobe lights, hydrometers, gages, and recorders.

    • Work from both written and verbal instructions.  Effectively use the computer software designated by Plant Engineering.  Work with cross functional teams, including engineering groups, manufacturing groups, vendors, etc. Contact vendors and fill out purchase requisitions to order parts as needed.

    • Install, troubleshoot, repair, modify, calibrate, and make adjustments to complete systems, system components, and circuits used in the measurement and control of current, voltage, temperature, humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, level, weight, velocity, tension, flow, time, frequency, thickness, viscosity, and density.

    Your Skills and Expertise 
     

    To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

    • Two (2) year Electronics Technology Degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution OR Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience in installation, testing, repairing, modification, and programming of industrial process control system/instrumentation as well as the communication links between the systems in a private, public, government, or military environment.
    • Valid Driver’s License and pass MVR

    Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

    • Programmable controllers, AC&DC drive controls.  Pneumatic, analog and digital electronics, including computer/microprocessor-based control systems.
    • Field instrumentation including process sensors and control devices.
    • Skill in operation and use of hand tools, wrenches, air and electric powered hand tools, and machine tools and a variety of testing equipment; reading and interpreting measuring systems; operating shop equipment; troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
    • Experience in Industrial Maintenance desired.
    • Candidates must be trained and experienced in a variety of mechanical and electronic testing and repair.  Experience in measurement of current, voltage, temperature, humidity, speed, pressure, level sensing, weight, velocity, tension, and flow.  A combination of education in electronics, job related experience and/or military electronics training will be considered in meeting these requirements.

    ·Ability to pass pre-employment skilled trades test battery.

    This position will require:

    • Working 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
    • Frequent physical demands, including:
      •  i.e.: lifting up to 50 lbs.
      • i.e.: frequent standing/sitting/squatting
