    Associate Field Service Technician

    In this position, you will provide technical support for Energy Service in Process Automation Energy Industries in Warminster, Pennsylvania, delivering superior, professional service, remotely or on-site. Your hands-on experience and knowledge of customer needs will help you not only to build strong customer relationships, but also to actively identify and develop new business opportunities.

    Your responsibilities

    • Maintain ABB’s suite of distributed control system (DCS) Symphony Plus hardware and software. Handle customer questions about the state of the ABB system
    • Handle customer service-related issues while fostering the customer relationship and working to solve technical problems on-site. Deal directly with, and communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, 3rd party vendors, and other ABB personnel in support of service operations
    • Troubleshoot and repair equipment applying own technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Training on ABB products and services will be provided; however, a basic understanding of computer networks, DCS systems (architecture, project engineering, and HMI/graphic creation) is required in order for the training to be beneficial
    • Accurately document the work that is performed at a customer facility and/or project staging area. Professionally document work completed on periodic preventive maintenance as well as intermittent corrective maintenance tasks
    • When required, play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers. Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments
    • Knowledge installing Windows Operating systems onto servers, clients and Thin clients hardware. Be familiar working with virtual machine
    • Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts. Guide less experienced technicians and instruct them in proper and safe operation of equipment. Often work non-standard schedules with exposure to varying environmental conditions
    • Be responsible for hands-on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive and unplanned maintenance Measurement and Analytics products including but not limited to flow, pressure, temperature, level meters and continuous water/gas analyzers. Specific knowledge of mass flowmeters (i.e. Coriolis, Thermal mass, etc.) in a plus
    • Ability to provide remote technical support to Customers and keep track of issues until final resolution

    Your background

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a High School Diploma with a minimum 5 years of engineering / field experience
    • Minimum 2 years of field engineering experience
    • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 80% as required
    • Technical skills in startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive and unplanned maintenance of products including but not limited to flow, pressure, temperature, level meters and continuous water/gas analyzers
    • Ability to build strong customer relationships
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
    • Customer service oriented
    • Strong computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, and Word
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
