    Associate Project Engineer

    Working as an Associate Project Engineer, you will be the authority/support person for various engineering projects in Automation & Electrification Service, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) in Cleveland, Ohio, providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. You will be responsible for supporting engineering and programming distributed controls systems in our Process Automation, Energy Industries team. This position will include all aspects of a project including creating and reading logic and flow diagrams, programming, HMI (Human Machine Interface​), simulation, enclosure design, testing and start up.

    Your responsibilities

    • Support engineering activities under the supervision of senior engineer in all type of project sizes and complexities. Complete tasks cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements
    • Lead Engineer on small projects with supervision
    • Work as part of an integrated design team to meet project requirements and deliverables
    • Support reviews of application design with Customer and ABB project team to ensure that the control requirements have been captured correctly
    • Assist with design and test automation enclosures with ABB or 3rd party process automation
    • Assist with implementing the control application code using ABB or 3rd party process automation engineering tools
    • Assist with developing graphics and simulation as well as participate in testing of new control application
    • Participates in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools and processes. Learns from best practices / Lessons Learned documentation
    • Travel to customer meetings with another project team member
    • Assist with onsite commissioning and startup coverage to help troubleshoot any issues

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemical, Electrical or Computer Science preferred and minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
    • Knowledge and/or experience in software programming and troubleshooting is preferred
    • Strong technical knowledge of programming techniques is preferred
    • Experience in software strategy design, developing user requirements, functional requirements and detailed design is preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and work with diverse discipline project teams
    • Ability to learn new methods and technologies with attention to detail
    • Candidate must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
    • Ability and willingness to travel approximately up to 35% of the time
    • Position will be based in Cleveland, OH
    • Reimbursement for relocation is not available
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
