Part of the Engineering team in Process Automation Energy Industries in Houston, Texas, the Associate Project Engineer assists in designing engineering solutions for projects in Renewable, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power Generation, Water treatment industries. Solutions may include preparing drawings, calculations, bills of materials, engineering instructions, testing and installation procedure development. In this role, you will engineer or modify pre-engineered designs for equipment, systems, or installations by applying standard design concepts.

Your responsibilities

  • Work in a project team to engineer and deliver solutions for telecommunications projects, potentially assist with automation or electrical scope as well
  • Contributing to design reviews and verification steps
  • Following work plans and cost estimates for various telecommunications Systems and ensuring the provision of quality deliverables on time and on budget
  • Assisting with risk and opportunity assessments and reporting any issues for resolution
  • Working with the supply chain during the preparation of Request for quotations (RFQs) and proposals
  • Assisting in the preparation of specific aspects of design assignments for project meetings
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately up to 20% of the time

Your background

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Science or a similar equivalent degree and up to 2 years of experience in design and execution, working as an Engineer with Telecommunications Systems – Security Systems, Safety Systems, Networking, or RF Communications
  • Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Software
  • Initiative, creativity, and attention to detail
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach, and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
