    A key role in assisting the sales team, the Bid Manager prepares sales proposals for Marine Systems, Process Automation Marine & Ports (PAMP) in Houston, Texas. You will support the local Coast Guard & Navy Sales organization/customers in determining the most technically appropriate and cost effective solutions and prepare technical descriptions of the applied products and technology to support the proposal process. Serve as a key technical and commercial resource in the CGN Team. Translate the technical system to cost details to support the sales team in bidding the projects by way of utilizing configurators, RFQ's (Request for quotation) to suppliers and then creation of the Full Cost Model for the project.

    Your responsibilities

    • Work with CGN team to help define system design to meet the customer requirements
    • Review system requirements for specific projects, with understanding of US (United States) Government standard requirements
    • Work with CGN team to develop potential system solutions with system architectures for specific projects. (MVAC, ODCG, Propulsion, Controls)
    • Work with ABB product managers Across the Marine Division as well as other Product Groups in ABB
    • Support technology presentations with Shipyards, Designers and End Users as required
    • Support technical responses to US Government RFI's (Request for information)
    • Create Full Cost Models for systems to support the Sales Quotation process
    • Create Technical summary documents for submission with the RFQ responses

    Your background

    • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field preferred
    • Knowledge of ABB products and services preferred, or;
    • Work experience in one or multiple of the following fields: Marine Electrical/Propulsion, Power Electronics, Variable Speed Drives, Control Systems preferred
    • Prior work with US Government projects, preferably USCG or US Navy
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
