Business Development Manager

Your responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in traditional and non-traditional markets within Canada (incl. hydrogen, biofuels, carbon capture, etc.)
- Ability to lead complex pursuits, structure capture teams as needed
- Ability to understand and communicate broad portfolio of products, systems, and services
- Work at various levels in the client organization (plant and corporate level)
- Lead and/or participate in planning efforts in conjunction with other ABB Sales and Business Development Managers
- Capable of developing, writing, and presenting business plans
- Meet or exceed individual sales targets and well as support achievement of group objectives
- Strong Sales Force (CRM) discipline
Your background
- 8+ years of senior management/sales experience with a proven track record in sales growth of systems/engineered solutions (automation a strong plus)
- Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit. Strong team player.
- Industry experience – understanding of the business drivers, client value requirements to be met
- Excellent communicator, good presenter, comfortable and competent with executive level meetings, managing those relationships and building networks throughout client organizations
- Proven negotiation skills and selling value
- Ability to interpret market trends, competitive scenarios to position ABB in most favorable light and to adapt to growth trends/areas
- Prior experience with pricing strategies and their impact on profitability
- Knowledge of bid/no bid strategies
- Energetic leader able to motivate and drive capture teams; ability to coordinate and lead numerous opportunities and activities to achieve sales success
- Previous complex selling experience, with opportunity values in excess of $10M. Automation, Electrification, and Digital preferred.
- Ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive knowledge of Canada targeted market players and a strong network of contacts and relationships with some of their key decision makers.
