    Category Manager

    The role of the Category Manager is to develop, plan and implement the procurement and logistics strategy for an assigned category or group of categories, with a focus on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability. The Category Manager will be responsible for developing, planning and implementing sourcing and procurement strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability of suppliers and supplied products for an assigned category or group of categories. Collaborate with global supply chain teams as well as local material planning teams to ensure an adequate supply base is developed and maintained to ensure material availability to support local business and customer needs. Participate in sourcing activities to support new product development.

    Your responsibilities

    • Sourcing Strategy: Leverage the Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing (CIPS) process, implements effective sourcing strategies in line with local and global business and category strategies. Ensure suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements
    • Procurement: Manage planning and tracking of procurement activities for responsible categories, cost budgets, emerging country spending and savings forecasts. Minimize risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with company guidelines
    • Negotiation: Negotiate agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists, terms and conditions
    • Supplier Agreements: Ensure identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost and sustainability) in accordance with Company policies and global category strategies
    • Special programs: Design and implement cost-out programs and/or processes to reach annual savings and operational cost reduction targets
    • Business Continuity: Applies and implements PL (Project Leader) standards, tools, and processes focused on business continuity for the assigned commodity or group of commodities
    • Product Life Cycle: Provide support to new product development R&D (Research and Development) projects for responsible categories. Responsible of supplier selections for the R&D projects. Then support the local service organization for category component availability and costs through product lifecycles. Support smooth ramp-down and transition into classic life cycle phase
    • Personal development: Actively search suitable trainings for own category from Group and external sources. Follow personal training plan based on knowledge mapping and functional manager and direct manager inputs

    Your background

    • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain and 8 years of supply chain/category management experience OR Associate degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain and 10 years of supply chain/category management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 12 years of supply chain/category management experience required.
    • Experience with an ERP like SAP highly preferred.
    • Extensive knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and experience working in/with R&D is highly preferred.
    • Continuous Improvement focus, ability to influence others and a strong understanding of global supply market, global logistics, B2B (Business to Business), TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) highly preferred.
    • Superior, demonstrated negotiation skills in a multicultural, global business environment highly preferred.
    • Up to 10% international travel required.
