The role of the Category Specialist is to develop, plan and implement the procurement and logistics strategy for an assigned category or group of categories, with a focus on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability. You will ensure execution in accordance with instructions and procedures from the company, the Procurement & Logistics function, and supply base management.

Your responsibilities
- Manages, develops material strategies, implements targets and standards/process within a business; Manages Printed circuit boards (PCBA), Electronics manufacturing services (EMS), cables & electrical commodities
- Encourage on going improvement favoring the reduction of costs and direct the cross functional or worldwide procurement projects
- Carry out research concerning the procurement markets for the designated categories and control them
- Launch and direct projects to improve the commercial results of the groups of internal users to ensure the availability of the procurement sources
- Elaborate an annual business plan for the Purchasing Department; set objectives and create a vision based on these
- Direct and manage the planning of a team to ensure that the capacity meets the on going growth
- See to the on going improvement of the controls and procedures to ensure the efficiency of the organization; see to always obtaining competitive and foreseeable prices. Create opportunities for contracting out, procurement at lower cost, and outsourcing
- Actively participate in the worldwide purchasing projects. Create synergies between the divisions to increase the buying power and propagate the best practices
- Analyze and interpret the results to identify the potential problems and develop a plan for resolution
- Process the data relative to purchasing (entry and tracking of the purchase orders,control of purchase invoices)
- Communicate and improve effective communication with ABB's business units and suppliers
- Solve the day to day problems of the procurement chain
- Drawn up various reports (monitor and present the key performance indicators). Improve the work processes
Your background
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering with minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing purchasing department OR Master's Degree in Electronics Engineering with minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing purchasing department
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics engineering with 7 years of experience in Manufacturing purchasing department(Electronics/PCBA commodities)
- Experience with supply management and quality processes
- Experience working with complex drawings and specifications, contract law, commercial terms, standard procurement procedures and related Company policies
- Proven expertise in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- SAP Experience
- Experience working in the manufacturing industry
- Working experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of the principles of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma (an asset)
- Capacity to maintain partnerships with internal and external collaborators
- Demonstrate solid proficiency in teamwork, leadership and an extensive capacity to manage priorities
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
