    Commodity Leader

    The role of the Category Manager is to develop, plan and implement the procurement and logistics strategy for an assigned category or group of categories, with a focus on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability. You will be responsible for performing/leading sourcing activities for assigned services projects (conversion, modification, upgrade, flow and non flow parts projects, and extended scope projects) as required for ABB Electrification Power Electronics. This role will focus on working closely with ABB Power Electronic Services, and Product Management. This position reports to the Global Sourcing Leader and will be based in Plano, TX.

    Your responsibilities

    • Develop, lead and execute sourcing strategy for assigned account/ responsibility. Establish strategic direction and work plan to deliver cost out, cash and On Time Delivery. Drive daily execution of work plan
    • Collaborate with Product Management to identify and establish strategic product / supplier offerings consistent with customers requirements to support total system sales and installation materials
    • Oversee matrix pricing (ABB standard versus project or customer specific) with key suppliers and support implementation by engineering and buyers to manage costs and profitability
    • Negotiate and oversee resolution of supplier exceptions, such as, quality, transportation damage, delivery, etc
    • Manage Sourcing activities for assigned buy including aggregating buy data, quoting and site support for current and new designs. Work effectively with counterparts around the Corporation to execute Global Sourcing strategies and leverage similar spend as applicable
    • Address any accounts payable issues by ensuring corrected/ updated data in SAP (Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software), facilitate payment dispute resolutions and obtain necessary data from Suppliers
    • Work effectively with Technology, Supplier Quality, and site/ field materials personnel on day to day problem resolution and opportunities for cost reduction. Lead supply base consolidation, supplier lead time reduction and cash initiatives on assigned commodities
    • Understand, track and forecast key drivers and market factors for assigned commodities. Create new and update changes to Sourcing data for material in SAP (Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software) and manage supplier add/change data QBR meetings with key suppliers with support of Quality and Materials team

    Your background

    • BS/BA degree: Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or business, logistics, supply chain related
    • Minimum 5 years experience in Sourcing, Project Management, Services, Finance or Manufacturing
    • Minimum 2 year prior supplier negotiations experience a plus
    • Strong project/program management experience and track record
    • Strategic thinking and planning.
    • Passion for change and challenge the status quo
    • High energy individual who is goal oriented and results driven
    • Excellent oral and written communication and influencing skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and be multitasking
    • SAP knowledge preferred
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
