As Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist you will be responsible for supporting and improving the Health, Safety and Environmental performance of all our operating facilities within the US and direct HSE support to our national field service engineering team by promoting an exemplary health and safety culture and maintaining a strong focus on Safety in the workplace environment. You’ll apply your foundational HSE knowledge to offer advice, guidance and solutions in full organizational compliance with local, state and federal health, safety and environmental regulations This position’s work location is Remote-home office-based position within the Phoenix, AZ metro area

    Your responsibilities

    • Provide technical health and safety informational support for employees, team leaders and executives
    • Conduct Incident investigations and Risk assessments, including the identification of Root Cause Analysis and recommendations of Corrective and Preventative actions, including in our facilities, as well as in the field
    • Support and help create a culture of awareness, acceptance & adherence to the ABB’s EHS policy standards and requirements
    • Assist in the development and management or ISO Certification Management system including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
    • You will support multidisciplinary projects, R&D, Installation and Commissioning and Field Service on HSE related questions
    • Perform field service H&S assessments with technical customer support and field service engineers with a focus on Electrical Safety, and Hazard prevention
    • Assist in the evaluation and training of 3rd party contractors on all related EHS policies and procedures

    Your background

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required with a minimum of 2-4 years of demonstrated EHS experience for a multi-site organization, or within an organization that has a national team of field service engineers/technicians that support electrical power related equipment
    • In lieu of having a degree, 5 or more years of direct experience supporting a national, multi-site product manufacturing company or 5+ years of HSE experience within the Electrification or Power and Energy technology industry will be considered
    • Experience and capability in developing, implementing and communicating effective Safety and Health programs to a widely dispersed workforce with the U.S. is highly preferred
    • Experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) is desired
    • Additional EHS experience in an R&D Hardware and Software Test Laboratory environment, a technical and customer support service center, or providing direct support to a large field service engineering organization is ideal
    • Ability to support and implement ISO Management systems, including 14001 certification and OHSA 18001, is strongly preferred
    • Professional Certification (CSP, CIH, etc.) from a nationally recognized organization is a plus
    • Ability to investigate, assess risk, provide well-documented reports, and the ability to implement correction action of HSE incidents is required
    • Excellent communication skills in English required and must be able to work comfortably and effectively across different functions and all levels throughout the company
    • Ability to multi-task, manage priorities, work under pressure, and meet business/project deadlines is required
    • Advance proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 software is required
    • Must be willing and able to travel within North America up to 30-35%
    • Salary Range for this position: 75K -90K
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
    • International and domestic relocation support is not available for this position
