The role reports to the Director of Technical Solutions and is located in Fort Smith, Arkansas. As a Electrical Engineer Intern, you will be working within the Custom Order Electrical Engineering department Fort Smith, AR location ABB NEMA Motors Division to assist with the design, specification, and analyses of industrial induction motors.

Your responsibilities

• Work under the direction of senior staff to provide design support for the NEMA Motors business
• Design of AC induction motors for various industrial applications
• Generation of engineering analyses according to the Electrical Engineering discipline – electrical winding design, motor test data evaluation, electrical insulation analysis
• Support of manufacturing processes as required, become familiar with Lean design and manufacturing principles
• Process custom orders
• Evaluate returned motors

Your background

• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree curriculum
• Familiarity with engineering software tools
• Good communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel, SAP, and computer programming is a plus
