    Electrical Hardware Engineer

    As an Electrical Hardware Engineer supporting the Application and Sustaining Engineering team, you will work with a team of engineers executing projects and initiatives including the maintaining and sustaining of all products in the ELPC (Electrification Power Conversion) portfolio, cost out efforts, resolving customer issues, test and verification of datasheets, custom product characterizations, assisting customers with design support and sales / field application engineer (FAE) training. This is an Onsite position.

    R&D/Technology Manager

    Your responsibilities

    • Lead customer issue resolution (CIR) efforts and conduct failure mode analysis (FMA) on customer field returns by identifying root cause and corrective action. Provide technical support for the quality team when constructing and reviewing the closing 8-D with the customer.
    • Perform engineering validation and test (EVT) for alternate components to be used to released products. Document and provide reports of all EVT performed to design teams. This will support end of life (EOL) components, alternate sources, and part shortages.
    • Support cost out projects through design and / or testing.
    • Troubleshoot AC/DC, DC/DC power supplies and DC power systems.
    • Maintain close contact with customers and Field Application Engineers to identify and resolve issues involving product applications.
    • Work closely with the design teams (Plano and Shanghai) and manufacturing (Matamoros, Mexico) while investigating field failures and applications of our products.
    • Maintain Product Bill of Materials with component updates and issue change notices.

    Your background

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university.
    • 1-3 years of engineering experience, preferably in power electronics or related field.
    • Proficient with lab test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, multimeters, programmable AC sources and DC load banks with the ability to troubleshoot.
    • Must be able to perform electrical characterization per checklists, design validation, and qualification.
    • Strong oral & written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented, strong team player, and self-motivated with the ability to drive projects to completion.
    • Python script (or equivalent) programming a plus.
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
