    In this position as Field Service Technician in our instrumentation division, you will be responsible for performing commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance for our products and systems at the customer's site. You will report to the Head of Field Service Instrumentation. Your hands-on experience and knowledge of customer needs will help you build strong customer relationships. You will also actively identify and develop new business opportunities.

    Your responsibilities

    • Commissioning of analysis, measurement, and control devices as well as process engineering systems: Installation of hardware, installation of software, execution of parameterizations and functional tests as well as preparation of the required documentation
    • Establishing and coordinating customer-specific maintenance and system check plans
    • Executing the corresponding maintenance on site
    • Preliminary clarification of technical and scheduling aspects - with the specialized department and the customer
    • Before a service visit: Collecting customer's fault reports and taking the required spare parts from the warehouse
    • Analyzing the root cause at the customer's site, replacing defective parts and troubleshooting
    • Presenting proposals for improving the availability of the systems and finally discuss them with the customer
    • Occasional on-call service and support of our international ABB departments

    Your background

    • A successfully completed technician in automation technology or a similar field
    • Experience as a service technician, ideally in measurement technology/instrumentation
    • Experience in the use of the PC/laptop, MS Windows 10 and MS Office365 (Outlook, Excel, Word)
    • First experience in the field of information technology; terms such as network, Ethernet, web server and field buses (PROFIBUS, PROFINET, HART, MODBUS) are familiar to you
    • High willingness to travel within Germany (usually daily assignments from the home office), occasionally also abroad
    • Fluent German and English basic knowledge - written and spoken
    • Strong affinity for service and a high degree of initiative, flexibility and independent working
